Job Description Individual will assist in behavioral training of mice for visual perception tasks in a neurobiology laboratory.
Job Requirements Lab assistant will handle mice and track their weight, activity and performance in a visual behavioral task. Assistant will be trained to handle animals appropriately and will be responsible for entering daily information into a database. Assistant will also be expected to assist in maintaining the behavioral apparatus. Some work with the mouse colony an the breeding and weaning of animals is expected. Individuals qualifying for this position are expected to be very organized and reliable, with basic computer skills (Office, database software, etc.) and excellent communication skills. Assistants will work closely with a supervising member of the laboratory and all necessary training will be provided. Must be comfortable handling animals. No specific biology expertise is necessary, but motivated individuals with an interest in neurobiology or visual behavior may elect to be involved in the more detailed expermental process. Likewise, individuals with MATlab programming experience or interested in technical development may elect to be involved in the development and testing of software and hardware for behavioral tasks.
Compensation $12.00/hour
