Job Description YOU MUST BE A FORESTRY & ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES STUDENT, ELIGIBLE FOR A STUDENT ASSISTANTSHIP TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION. Professor Ken Gillingham and Professor Nadine Unger are looking for a Research Assistant for an integrated economic and environmental impact assessment of a future nuclear energy world. The project aims to quantify the climate change, air quality, and ecosystem health impacts of different scenarios of large-scale policies to promote nuclear energy. Specifically, the project will assess claims by prominent scientists that promoting nuclear energy is a major solution to climate change and other environmental maladies. The Research Assistant will conduct a literature review and assist with analyses of different realistic policy scenarios that would lead to a much larger share of nuclear energy in the global energy mix. These analyses will use the well-known Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM) model to implement the scenarios. Resultant emissions projections from the GCAM model will then be applied into the NASA Earth system model (ModelE) to quantify the scenario environmental impacts.
